FORT LAUDERDALE RIVERWALK DISTRICT

A Unique Destination and Cosmopolitan Experience

The Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk District, set along the New River on Florida’s East Coast, offers a variety of appealing civic amenities: an accessible waterfront, arts and entertainment destinations, and successful retail corridors. Working closely with the Riverwalk Trust, a multidisciplinary team led by Beyer Blinder Belle with Rhodeside & Harwell developed a public realm plan to strengthen and unify the district’s identity; improve connectivity; create new public spaces; and devise a long-term management strategy for operating, improving, and sustaining the district. The landscape master plan emphasized the creation of focal point activity areas for cultural activities and the performing arts as well as a major native planting concept to unify the study area.
