Dulles Corridor Metrorail
Low-Impact Landscapes
Rhodeside & Harwell was retained to create concepts and preliminary designs for low-impact landscapes at 11 new transit stations along the Dulles Corridor in Northern Virginia. The firm coordinated an interactive work session with key consultants on the transit team to develop a modern and ecologically sensitive language for each of the sites. Strategies include capturing stormwater runoff, use of recycled glass pavers and native vegetation, and the incorporation of distinctive works from local artists. When complete, the Dulles Metro will feature the largest raingarden system in the U.S.
