National Bonsai and Penjing Museum
"A Much Needed Facelift"
The Bonsai and Penjing Museum at the US National Arboretum in Washington, D.C., features an acclaimed display of intricate botanical forms, including Chinese, Japanese, and North American-styled trees ranging in age from 20 to nearly 400 years. Rhodeside & Harwell has served as design consultant to the U.S. Department of Agriculture for several phases of improvements at the museum. Highlights include a Cryptomeria walkway that leads to a renovated courtyard framed by four pavilions, each complemented by its own meditative garden.
