Jones Beach State Park Revitalization

Wantagh, NY

Among New York’s most iconic public settings, Jones Beach State Park stretches along six miles of scenic barrier beaches on southern Long Island. The park has hosted millions of visitors since opening in 1929 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We created a comprehensive revitalization plan for this renowned property, addressing the landscape as well as deteriorating buildings and infrastructure. Our master plan emphasizes environmental conservation and preservation of the elegant Art Deco structures and grounds, along with design standards that optimize resilience and low-maintenance stewardship. Several pilot projects, including the rehabilitation of the grand Central Mall, the West Bathhouse, and the East Games area, reflect our commitment to honoring the park’s original design, drawing upon a palette of historically appropriate materials and details.
